Founded in Barcelona in 2001 by Gerard Sanmarti and Gabriele Shiavon, Lagranja Design is a busy, in-demand studio which creates exhibition spaces and interiors for everything from museums to fast food outlets, as well as furniture and lighting for domestic use.
The Uto suspended outdoor lamp is a design aimed at being playful, soft and transformist. Uto is a unique suspension lamp and can be used both indoors and out, plying it according to changing requirements and personal inspiration.
The Uto is made primarily from flexible hardwearing weather-resistant silicon rubber. It consists of a length of tube (inside which the on/off switch is located) and a cone-shaped head sealed at the end with a clear polycarbonate lens. Including the tube, the whole piece measures 320cm, while the lamp itself is 60cm in length and 20cm in width. The entire body acts as a diffuser, while direct light emerges from the end. Extremely versatile, the lamp looks great hung over trees and fences in the garden, or suspended from beams or girders in industrial-style apartments and comes in 3 colours – white, yellow and orange.
